COOL RESTAURANTS BERGEN
Colonialen is a chain of restaurants and cafes, each with its own characteristic and quirkiness.
Colonialen Litteraturhuset or ”House of Literature” lies in the middle of Bergen. It is a hidden gem, tucked away on a cobbled side street, close to the famous fish-market. It may be slightly hard to find, but well worth it.
Colonialen Litteraturhuset serves French/Norwegian food, following the different seasons. Norway has very contrasting seasons. It´s no not just the weather, but also the different protein and vegetables available, and you are served what the Chef believes is perfect for that time of year.
On the menu you will find dishes in varying sizes. Salads, soups, sandwiches and "planks". The restaurant is open all day, starting with breakfast, lunch and then dinner.
Feeling peckish, then enjoy tea with croissants or scones straight from the oven. For breakfast they make a great eggs Benedict.
The design is typical Scandinavian chic and you will get an understanding of the concept of ”hygge”. Here is a relaxed atmosphere, transforming from a café during the day, to a more forma, but still cosy brasserie style restaurant in the evening.
Because of its location, its a perfect place for a time out from sightseeing or shopping in Bergen,
If you visit the toilets, notice the detailed cartoons drawn by hand on the walls.
